Two slogans on Tian'anmen Gate

On 1 October 1949, the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China was held in Tian'anmen Square. Two giant slogans were hung on either side of the gate, and they remain there today:

中华人民共和国万岁
世界人民大团结万岁

“Long Live the People's Republic of China” — and “Long Live the Great Unity of the Peoples of the World”. One is for the nation, the other for the whole world, expressing the sincere wish of the Chinese people to live in friendship with all peoples. This is where the name sjrmdtjws comes from.
